Metropolis Property Group is a privately owned full service real estate investment, development, and management company that also provides consulting and brokerage services. MPG was formed in Long Island NY and now has offices in Rhode Island and New Jersey.. The company began in 2012 to provide consulting and brokerage services to real estate development and investment companies working in the NYC Metro area. Over the years MPG has grown into a full service real estate investment and development company. The company is focused on the acquisition and development of senior housing communities as well as multifamily, industrial, and hospitality. MPG targets high quality real estate investment opportunities with value add that create sustainable assets for all its clients. The Principals specialize in high barrier to entry markets along the east coast.

Metropolis has worked on several high profile projects over the recent years. Metropolis’ brokerage division has represented and brokered commercial sales and leases in the NYC metro area since 2012. Recently Metropolis represented Hippeas Snacks and brokered the lease for their relocation from California to New York. Metropolis’ brokerage division represented the seller on the $20.25M sale of the Residence Inn by Marriott in Plainview, NY and the sale of property to Sunrise Senior Living in Mountain Lakes, NJ.

Metropolis’ consulting services division has worked with land owners and real estate developers to guide them through the local development processes and identify targeted markets. Metropolis has helped their clients create development plans to include vertical and horizontal growth for mixed use and senior housing projects.

James Ashley Johnston

Partner

James Ashley “AJ” Johnston founded Metropolis Property Group in 2017. Over the past two decades he has experience working in diverse roles in every facet of the real estate industry: managing and directing acquisitions, entitlements, development, leasing, and asset management. He has been involved in the investment, development, and asset management of real estate valued at more than $1 billion and secured entitlements to build more than a thousand residential units in the NYC Metro area. AJ’s experience enables him to envision and identify the highest and best use for each real estate investment.

AJ began his career at Pulte Homes transitioning into senior housing with Sunrise Senior Living, one of the country’s top providers and developers of independent living, assisted living, and memory care, where he led the New York State development division. AJ’s senior housing experience also includes Director of Real Estate at Benchmark Senior Living and Vice President of Acquisitions and Development at The Bristal Assisted Living where his responsibilities included acquisitions, land use entitlements, capital markets, and development.

AJ earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and History from Boston College and a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University Gabelli School of Business’ Executive Program with concentrations in Finance and International Management.

Michael Reuten

Partner

Michael has over two decades of real estate experience in commercial and residential real estate investment, development, construction, and property management. As the current Principal and Vice President of Fred Reuten, Inc. and Managing Partner of Reuten Associates, LP, his family owned commercial real estate holding, management and development companies, positions which he still holds today, Michael currently manages an industrial and office portfolio of over two hundred thousand square feet.

Michael graduated from Colgate University with a BA in International Relations in 2002, and he received an MBA, Phi Kappa Phi, from the Fordham University Graduate School of Business in 2010.  Michael is also very active in serving the communities in which he lives and works.  He resides in Bergen County, New Jersey, where he was born and raised, with his wife and two sons.

Michael Johnston

Mike Johnston has over 30 years of Hotel and Hospitality Industry experience including numerous positions in Corporate Management, Operations, and Human Resources. He has served as General Manager at City, Suburban and Airport locations and has been personally involved in numerous hotel openings, acquisitions and repositionings.

Mr. Johnston possesses extensive knowledge in all aspects of the hospitality industry. As past President of the Long Island Hotel & Lodging Association and current Chair of the Board of Directors for the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, Mr. Johnston is a recognized leader within the industry with a long track record of success. The New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association recognized Mr. Johnston as Hotel Executive of the Year in 2009. Mr. Johnston is also a Professor at Nassau Community College, teaching Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism.

In addition to his wide range of industry experience, Mr. Johnston has spearheaded numerous charitable events in an effort to give back to the community and sits on numerous local and regional industry advisory boards.He is the current president of the newly formed Long Island Hospitality & Leisure Association and elected board member of the New York StateHospitality & Tourism Association.

Don Eversoll

Partner

Don Eversoll is a native Californian and graduate of UCLA. As a Division President for national homebuilders KB Homes and Pulte Homes, Don has built tens of thousands of homes across the country. Throughout Don’s fifty plus years in the real estate industry, he also founded numerous private real estate development, homebuilding, and investment companies. He recently co-founded Timber Ridge Homes and Eversoll Associates.

Don was on the Suffolk County NY Planning Commission from 1990 until 2003 and was Chairman from 1995 until 2003. He was on the Board of The Nature Conservancy from 1994 until 2012 and Chair from 2003 until 2007. He served on the Board of the Family Service League from 2003 until 2013 and was Chair elect. 

Don was President of the Long Island Builder’s Institute from 1980 until 1982 and served as President of the New York State Builder’s Association in 1983. He is a Life Director of the National Association of Homebuilders as well as the local and State Associations. He is a member of LIBI Hall of Fame and well as NYSBA Hall of Fame.

Roberto Valentini

Intern Analyst

Roberto graduated magna cum laude from Dickinson College in 2020 with a BA in Economics and International Security Studies. He has experience in commercial real estate development, brokerage and asset management as an analyst with the Procaccianti Companies, one of the largest privately-held real estate investment and services firms in the United States. Roberto is a sports-enthusiast who enjoys going to the beach and traveling.
